San Francisco i mitt ❤

China town

Finally I was back in my favorite city (Bergen is nice too, but unfortunately does not beat SF ..)

It's been about 25 years since I was here. Then I worked as an au pair with an American family who lived in the bay area. I visited San Francisco several times during that year. And every time I was as excited.

I think it must have been the ocean, the sea, the magic bridge Golden Gate, the stories about the Alcatraz, the hippie movement, China town and Freia milk chocolate at the seamen church that made me completely love the city at that time.

Being back after so many years was wonderful. We stayed centrally at Fisherman's Warf. The first day we went to Pier 39. There was not much that was changed. The Chiradelli chocolate shop was still there. The same was the Christmas store. There were still seals lying on the floating bridge like they did 25 years ago.

We walked by the seafront towards the Golden Gate bridge. It was a little far to go so we decided to rent bicycles the next day. Then it would be easier to get around.

I was very pleased with that decision. What a great experience it was to ride a bike over the world's famous bridge. I loved it.

We stopped along the way and ate lunch with a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean.

For the rest of the day, we rode around the city thru several parks and the cool hippie area, Haight Ashbury. Here, they still cherish flare jeans and flowers in the hair.

Unfortunately, we only had a few days. I could easily have stayed here longer, because in this city there is so much to do.  I will return and I will not wait 25 years this time.

Fem mneder p tur! Avsluttes ved South Lake Tahoe.

Then it was suddenly over. I'm done with the Pacific Crest Trail. After five months and about 1800 miles (2880 km), I have taken of my backpack and hiking shoes. It has been a wonderful trip. I'm left with memories and experiences for life.

Thank you very much to all who helped me on the road. Everyone who has followed my journey on GPS, supported me financially, gave good advice, picked me up when I hitch hiked, shared heart room and heart warmth, I could not done it without you. And not least, all the great PCT hikers who have crossed my way; love you all.

Although I did not complete the entire PCT, I choose to look at it as a well-completed trip. I have been on tour for about 150 days. I have hiked, hitch hiked, driven, taken the bus and gone from Campo at the border between the US and Mexico, to Manning Park in Canada and now back to South Lake Tahoe, California.

It's still a few weeks before I'm on my plane home for rain and everyday life in Western Norway. I have missed home the last month. It will be incredibly good to come home. I'm so looking forward to hugging my beautiful daughter, the rest of my family and my good friends.

I still have a few weeks in the United States that will be used for road trips, day trips, jogging, eating, sleeping and visiting friends.

Gps tracking is turned off, but please follow me on blog and Facebook, there will be more trips. :)

Belden er en liten plass "in the middle of no where".

Purplehaze, Axe, Almost cowboy camped, Barbie and Newsfeed. "Trail-names" m man ha.

Deilig omelett, mye kaffe, gode historier og kjekke folk. Perfekt start p en zero day.

I think it must be a heat wave going on. It has been around 40 degrees Celsius for several days. We sweat a lot on the trail and we drink countless liters of water. When we came down to Belden last afternoon, we were soaked. The first thing we did was buy cold drinks. Which went down very fast and we had to buy more.

Belden is a small place "in the middle of no where". The place consists of a hotel with cafe, bar and small shop. One can also camp here. The standard can be discussed. It's not exactly a five star, but after spending several nights in a tent in the wilderness, we're not picky. The place is beautifully located at the North Fork Feather River. The staff is helpful and courteous even though we look like dirty boms. PCT hikers are allowed to camp for free by the river.

The water is cool but lovely. We use our wonderful Wilderness soap and wash our hair in the river. Delicious refreshing.

The afternoon is used to 'hang' on the beach with other hikers, drink cold beer and eat burgers. It's Laborday weekend and many Americans have time off. The place is filled with bikers and various biker personalities. Its good entertainment. Party factor is high on the beach. We are having a great time.

The next morning it's hard to get up. We have slept well despite several trains, cars, motorcycles and river noise through the night and the morning. But a good breakfast is essential.

Delicious omelett, lots of coffee, great stories and fun people. Perfect start of a zero day.

All we have to do today is wash clothes, swim in the river, drink beer, blog, eat good food and plan tomorrow. Then we'll get back on the trail. Hopefully it will be under 30 degrees Celsius  soon ....
